Recent Bio

Erin McCarthy, MSW practices psychotherapy with adults, teenagers and children from a contemporary relational and experiential perspective.  She supports those who are willing to shift into an increased sense of playfulness, emotional depth and internal security.  Part of that process is working with dreams to transform unconscious, forbidden affects and thoughts into ideas that can be symbolized, tolerated and known.  She maintains practices in Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA, where she moved in October 2020.

Decay

by Erin McCarthy
A sensual feast.  Sour, slimy and color-changing with an unpredictable yet unmistakably “off” scent, decaying objects show us how they plan to return to the earth.  Breaking down, their particles become less recognizable in form and structure -- melding into mysterious organic matter, ready to be used for fuel.
